CEM / CEPID (RIDC) participates in the 67th meeting of the SBPC

Over the activities of the 67th Annual Meeting of the Brazilian Society for the Progress of Science (SBPC), the Center for Metropolitan Studies participated along with the other 16 RIDCs maintained by FAPESP.

The campus of the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), in São Carlos, in São Paulo, received the CEPIDs located in the stands. The event offers visitors an overview of what is being produced in terms of science in São Paulo.

CEM consists of a multidisciplinary group, which includes demographic researchers, political scientists, sociologists, geographers, economists and anthropologists – whose research agenda is focused on citizens’ access to well-being. Therefore, the research is concerned with the mechanisms by which citizens may be freed from their situation of poverty, namely: State actions; labor market, and relationship social networks and associations.

CEM researcher and professor from the Sociology Department at UFSCar, Gabriel Feltran, also was part in the 67th SBPC academic activities, at the panel Displacements and inequality and state violence.
