CEM researchers participate in the 39th ANPOCS meeting and launch books

O 39º encontro da ANPOCS acontece em Caxambu no final de outubro

From 26 to 30 October the 39th ANPOCS meeting (National Association of Postgraduate Studies and Research in Social Sciences) will take place in Minas Gerais and researchers of the Center for Metropolitan Studies-CEM/Cepid will participate in the event with a collective release of works resulting from research at the Center. It will be released in the event the two research findings books and organized by researchers from the CEM, with the presence of the editors: Paths of Inequality: How has Brazil changed in the last 50 years, Marta Arretche (ed.), Unesp Publ./CEM and São Paulo, XXI century: Spaces, heterogeneities and inequalities, Eduardo Marques (ed.) – Unesp Pub/CEM.

The special session SE03 Policies for scientific publication: perspectives for journals in the social sciences will be coordinated by Adrian Gurza Lavalle/USP (10/28 at 11:30 am), who will also present the paper "1095-1 Control democrático o democratización del control: innovación democrática en Brasil y México en perspectiva histórica comparada", with Gisela Zaremberg (FLACSO Mexico) and Ernesto Isunza (CIESAS) in GT- 08 Democratic controls and political participation: actors, institutions, dynamics and results (1st Session – Day 10/27/2015, Tuesday, from 8:30 am until noon, room 10 – Lopes Hotel).

The workgroup GT30 – Public Policies will be coordinated by Sandra Cristina Gomes/UFRN and Renata Mirandola Bichir/USP (1st Session, Day 10/28/2015, Wednesday, from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm, room 11 – Lopes Hotel) with the participation of CEM researcher, Eduardo Cesar Leão Marques (USP) with the paper "In search of a forgotten object: politics and urbans policies in Brazil."

GT25 – New configurations in higher education in contemporary society (1st Session –10/28/2015, Wednesday, from 2 pm to 5:30 pm, room 6 – Gloria Hotel) includes the presentation "1613-1 - Horizontal stratification in Higher Education: 50 years in changes and conservation",  by Rogerio Schlegel/UNIFESP.

GT27 – Parties and party systems, Session 2 -Elections, party politics, and social movements, includes the presentation of the paper "1141-1 - Same institutions, same results? Assessing the impact of the electoral district on the concentration of votes in Brazil", by Glauco Peres da Silva/USP (2nd Session, 10/29/2015, Thursday, 2 pm to 5:30 pm, room 8 – Gloria Hotel).

Researcher Marcia Lima/USP/CEM-CEBRAP will present “1655-1 – Race, gender and inequalities: actions of the Secretariat for Policies for Women and the Secretariat for the Promotion of Racial Equality”, in the 2nd Session (10/29/2015, Thursday, from 2 pm to 5:30 pm, Room 13 – União Hotel) in GT32 Racial Relations: inequalities, identities, and public policies.

The paper "1985-1 - Market management trends: Management gurus and institution rites", by Monise Fernandes Picanço/USP will be presented in GT35 society and economic life in the 2nd Session - Companies, values, and innovations (10/29/2015 Thursday, 2 pm to 5:30 pm, room 16 – União Hotel).

Researcher Maria Clara Gabriel de Oliveira/USP participates in SPG05 Diffusion of policies: ideas, models, and Brazilian institutions with the paper "0792-1 – First notes on the diffusion of a cash transfer program from Brazil: the case of Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty in Ghana" (1st Session, 10/27/2015, Tuesday, from 4 pm until 7:30 pm, Room 7 - Glória Hotel).

SPG12 (Symposium on Post-Graduate Researches) Organizations, State, and violence: multiple meanings of collective action will be coordinated by Leilah Landim/UFRJ and Monika Dowbor/CEM/CEBRAP (1st Session – Day 10/27/2015, Tuesday, from 4 pm until 7:30 pm, room 14 – União Hotel).

CEM director Marta Arretche/USP coordinates the Roundtable MR02 Inequality in Brazil: persistence or reduction? (10/27, Tuesday, from 2 pm to 3:30 pm) and holds a presentation at SP01 Conjuncture Symposium, 1st session: Social Conjuncture(10/27/2015, Tuesday, from 8 pm to 9:30 pm).

The Colloquium CQ02 Gender, class, race, and sexuality: inequalities and challenges in the field of rights (1st session: Gender, race, and class: convergences in the reproduction of inequality, 10/27, Tuesday, from 8 pm to 9:30 pm) has a presentation by Marcia Lima/USP. CQ07 Internationalization of production and circulation of knowledge: lights and shadows counts with researcher Adrian Gurza Lavalle/USP in the general coordination.
