Biography

 

Coordinates the cooperation of the Center for Metropolitan Studies (CEM-Cepid / Fapesp) with UrbanData-Brasil.

Professor of the Department and Postgraduate Program - Sociology of the University of São Paulo (USP) and Associate Researcher of the Center for Metropolis Studies, where she coordinates UrbanData - Brazil: database on urban Brazil. He holds a degree in Social Sciences from UERJ, a post-graduate degree in Urban Sociology from the same university and a Master's degree in Sociology from IUPERJ. Her doctorate in History and Theory of Art and Architecture, carried out with CAPES scholarship at Binghamton University (SUNY) and revalidated by PPG in Social Sciences of UERJ, directed her to work with images that make urban space and cultural alterity its focus of representation.

At the undergraduate level, he teaches disciplines of sociological theory and research methods, as well as electives that, having a privileged analytical field, transnational mobilities, focus on the themes of urban, tourism, leisure and consumption. In the context of the Laboratory of Social Research (USP), she works in the line of research * Mobilities: concepts, themes and methods *, which she founded in partnership with Vera da Silva Telles and in dialogue with CeMoRe (Center for Mobilities Research, Lancaster University) , where he completed his post-doctoral training under John Urry's supervision. With Thiago Allis (EACH / USP), he organized the First School of Advanced Science in Mobility: Theory and Methods * which brought together in 2017 several of the main names linked to the mobility paradigm.

She was a guest researcher at the Center for Migration and Development at Princeton University, a visiting professor at the College of Mexico (Florestan Fernandes Chair) and the Graduate Institute (Geneva), and Tinker Visiting Professor at the University of Texas at Austin. She was Associate Professor at the CPDOC / FGV School of Social Sciences (2006 to 2015) and the CPDOC in History, Politics and Cultural Goods (2007 to 2017). Between 2010 and 2014, she was one of the editors of Revista Histórica, and since November of 2015, she has been in the Editorial Committee of Tempo Social magazine.
