Alvaro Comin and his team presented a paper about the role of major cities in the economy’s growth.

Analyzing Rais (Annual List of Social Information) data compiled by the Ministry of Labor, a research group exercise gathered indications that, economically speaking, the São Paulo Metropolitan Region is simultaneously specialized and diversified: it is concentrated in certain sectors, and above average in other metropolitan areas, but also presents an economic force in various sectors.
