POST-EVENT
The livre-docente professor of the Geography Department, Luís Antonio Bittar Venturi, presented the seminar titled, “Energy vulnerability of the City of São Paulo,” as part of a series of special events promoted by the Center for Metropolitan Studies (CEM/RDIC).
The exhibition took place at the University of São Paulo, Butantã Campus, and addressed a study linked to RDIC (RCGI) (Research Center for Gas Innovation) that identifies and maps the areas of the city that are most likely to suffer power outages. This identification was made by crossing several indicators in a matrix that generated four vulnerability classes (very high, high, medium and low), which were mapped using ArcGIS. In addition, the paper shows how increasing gas use could reduce this vulnerability. The maps are innovative because they can subsidize public policies and influence the real estate market, among other possible uses.
Lecturer Profile: Luis A.B. Venturi is a free professor in the Department of Geography, a specialist in Natural Resources and coordinates RCGI project 28 with a team of 5 students, including undergraduates, masters and doctoral students.
