Governance trajectories and changes in the instruments of urban governance: a comparison between Sao Paulo and Mexico City

15/10/2014 17:00

Special CEM Seminars with Visiting Researchers

On October, 15th, at 5 pm, the visiting researcher at CEM, Dionisio Zabaleta Solís (Doctorate student in Public Policy - CIDE Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económica, Mexico) will held the presentation: "Trajectories and governance change in the instruments of urban governance: a comparison between São Paulo and Mexico City, from his doctoral research".

Abstract:

The research proposes a framework for interpreting the processes of change of public policy instruments, grouped generically from a governance perspective. The model stresses the importance of some endogenous factors historically constructed (capacity development and the mode of relationship of state and social actors) in the definition of far-term trajectories in the processes of government and act as constraints on the dynamics of change of instruments of government. Empirically, we present some partial results of the comparison of the processes of adoption of instruments of urban governance in São Paulo and Mexico City.

The event will take place in FFLCH / USP, on October 15th, at 5 pm, in room 8, of the Building Philosophy and Social Sciences in Cidade Universitária.
