POST-EVENT

In this workshop, the research teams that initiated the ReSolution project (REsilient Systems fOr Land Use TransportatION) attended the kick-off meeting for the research project and technology transfer involving mobility, socio-spatial segregation (including data for census tracts) in São Paulo and London.

The project is a partnership that integrates science funding agencies in Brazil (FAPESP) and the UK (ESRC) through the Center for Metropolitan Studies (CEM/CEPID), based at the University of São Paulo, the Brazilian Center for Analysis and Planning (CEBRAP), the Engineering, Modeling and Applied Social Sciences Center at the Federal University of ABC (CECS), and the National Institute for Space Research, Image Processing Division (DPI-INPE). On the British side, in London, the project includes researchers from The Bartlett's Center for Advanced Spatial Analysis (CASA) at University College London (UCL) and of Birkbeck University of London.

The project is related to the measurement and modeling of social and spatial segregation in two metropolitan areas, São Paulo and London, which are roughly comparable in size (15 to 20 million). The mission of ReSolution (acronym for REsilient Systems fOr Land Use TransportatION) is to capture data showing resilience, as well as vulnerability, to social and spatial segregation focusing on transport and traffic.
