Biography

Coordinator at CEM of “Tackling inequity in health provision: comparing policy strategies.” 

Graduate in Social Sciences from the University of Campinas (1981), MSc in Sociology from the University of Campinas (1985) and Doctorate in Social Sciences from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) (1996).

She is a researcher at the Brazilian Center for Analysis and Planning (CEBRAP), where she coordinates the Center for Citizenship and Development. She was a visiting researcher at the University of Torquato di Tella (Argentina, 2000), Institute for Development Studies of Sussex University, UK (2004) and Hauser Center of the Kennedy School, Harvard University, USA (2009). The Federal University of ABC (UFABC) is a postdoctoral fellow and member of the faculty of the graduate program in Public Policy.

She has extensive experience in policy evaluation and coordination of comparative projects. Her areas of interest are Public Policy, Health Policy, Social Participation, Deliberation, Social Policy, Social Welfare State, Democracy and Development.

She recently edited “Mobilizing for Democracy” (with Bettina von Lieres, Zed Books, London 2010); “New Democratic Spaces: International Perspectives” (with Andrea Cornwall eds., Editora Singular, São Paulo), “New Democratic Spaces? The Politics of Participation in New Democratic Arenas” (with Andrea Cornwall eds, Zed Books. - London 2006), “Participation and Resolution in Contemporary Brazil” (with Mark Noble eds, Publisher 34 SP 2004.), and “Social Security Reform in Latin America” (Rio de Janeiro FGV 2003).
