POST-EVENT

The postdoctoral fellow researcher at the Center of Metropolitan Studies, Magaly Marques Pulhez (Doctorate in Architecture and Urbanism at the Institute of Architecture and Urbanism, USP) held the seminar, “The management of housing policy in São Paulo: Agents and arrangements.” The event took place at FFLCH/USP, Cidade Universitária, Butantã Campus.

The speaker made a brief presentation of her research both in her master's and doctorate.

In her current research, Pulhez approaches the interactions between the state and private companies in the formats of management of the housing policy operated in São Paulo territory. Empirically, relations between state agencies (especially the Housing and Urban Development Company - CDHU and the City Hall of São Paulo - SEHAB) and consulting and management companies, subcontracted as providers of administrative support services, were focused. The increase in outsourcing and the regulatory role of the state in this process are elements of debate to understand the production and implementation of the policy, the interests involved therein and the institutional arrangements thereafter constructed and possibly constituted as a standard of governance of housing policy in São Paulo.

Magaly Pulhez referenced her article published in 2016, part of the Capital Urban Dossier (Marques, Eduardo coord.): The management of housing policy in São Paulo. New Studies CEBRAP. N. 105, July / 2016, p. 99-116. Access is free at this link.
