Urban Injustices: Normative Ideas and Practices
The workshop "Urban Injustices: Normative Ideas and Practices" will be held between February 13th and 15th, in São Paulo, always starting at 9 am (Brasília time). The event has the participation of national and foreign researchers. This interdisciplinary workshop seeks to establish a forum for novel academic debates by associating concepts and theories in contemporary political philosophy with empirical claims raised by groups that suffer urban injustices and with normative justifications that support fairer and more egalitarian cities.
"The workshop will address ongoing discussions on urban injustices in Brazil and in other countries and pursue methodological gains for theoretical research on urban studies and public policymaking", explain the workshop coordinators, Katarina Pitasse Fragoso (CEM-Universidade de São Paulo/Goethe University Frankfurt) and Pedro Lippmann (Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne).
The event is promoted by the Center for Metropolis Studies (CEM), the Research, Diffusion and Innovation Center (Cepid-Fapesp) based at the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences (FFLCH) of the University of São Paulo (USP) and at the Brazilian Institute of Analysis and Planning (Cebrap), supporters of the event, alongside the State of São Paulo Research Foundation (Fapesp).
