In this book, the researchers reveal what they learned by entering the everyday work of health clinics, schools, social assistance units and services, or by accompanying the fieldwork carried out by rural extension agents, public security professionals, and justice officials. The analyses examine how street-level agents operate in contexts of unpredictability, dealing with informational uncertainty and relational pressures from different sides, within reform settings and, particularly, in crisis situations, when guidance and experience are lacking, combined with changes in the way services operate (in Portuguese).
